New Ghost Of Yotei Patch Fixes Several Mission Blocking Bugs

If you’ve been playing Ghost of Yotei and accidentally got yourself permanently locked out of completing a mission due to a bug, the new patch might be able to help.

Sucker Punch have released the patch notes for Ghost of Yotei version 1.010. There isn’t anything too big being changed, and it’s nowhere near as hefty as the day one patch, but there are a number of significant bugs being addressed, and a lot more fixes than the last patch.

Most of the fixes in the patch are related to several different ways players can permanently lock progression on different missions, and one that blocks progression in the entire game.

There are also a couple of rare crashes that have been addressed in the new patch.

Fixing “Permanent Mission Blocking Bugs”

Patch 1.010 fixes mission blocking bugs for seven different quests, all triggered by different player actions happening at the wrong time, like dying after killing all the enemies and rescuing the prisoner in “Broken Horn Garrison” but before actually completing the mission.

In “Fighting Fire with Fire,” the mission could get permanently blocked if the player tried to complete flash bomb training when they don’t have any flash bombs, which has been fixed.

Meanwhile, “The Way of the Kusarigama” could be permanently blocked if the player warped into the mission at a certain point, and “Higashi Lumberyard” could get locked if the player saved and quit at the wrong time, among other mission blocking bugs.

It was also possible for a “permanent game blocking bug” to occur if the player climbs a tower in the Frontier and speaks to an NPC, but then restarts from their last checkpoint.

There are also a couple of uncommon crashes being fixed, including one related to ray tracing and another that could happen in the mission “Poison and Lies” if the player approaches Oyuki while accompanied by the Nine Tails NPC.

There was also a placeholder asset that snuck its way into the final mission in the questline for the Kitsune of the Yotei Six, which has been replaced.

It makes sense that a game as generally solid as Ghost of Yotei doesn’t have much that needs to be urgently fixed in patches, but Sucker Punch seems to be working fast to fix the bugs that did slip through the cracks, considering the game has been out for two weeks and, including the day one patch, has received four separate updates.
